Tooth Fairy

There she blows! The story of our uprooted tree.

It was late at night and I heard this whacking noise on the top of our roof. The wind was howling and the trees in our front yard were creaking. The top branches from the tree by our kitchen
were whipping back and forth and would slap the top or our roof. I wasn't quite sure what to do.

I noticed that the trunk of the tree was split and when the wind blew the trunk of the tree rocked back and forth. I was afraid we were going to have an unplanned skylight in our kitchen.

Josh and I have this little tree saw and were trying to decide the best way to fix the problem. You see there were two wires in a v shape on either side of the tree. If the tree fell it would take out our electrical wires and our telephone wires running from the pole to the house. We set a ladder against the house so I could carefully chop down the limbs. The wind was blowing so hard the ladder was sliding all over the place. I moved the van under the tree ( yes I know that doesn't sound like the smartest thing to do) so I could climb on top and take my extendo saw aka nail file and carefully chop the top branches off. I'm on top of the van rocking back and forth, wind howling, Josh trying to tell me move to the right or left to get the branch, and not zap myself when I take the metal pole and bump the electrical wires. Its a good thing our neighbors weren't watching because they would have said, "what in the world are those crazy Delepines doing now. Josh devised this plan to throw a rope on the individual branch we were working on and tie it to the end and wrap the other end to the telephone pole. I would take my nail file and cut/file the branch half way through and when it was almost ready to break Josh would pull hard in the opposite direction and when the branch fell it would not hit the house , the car or the two wires in a v shape around the branch. We did this with each branch. Needless to say we were both tired and my legs were shaking from being on top of the van and trying to balance on top of the luggage rack bars on the van. We got all the top branches above the wires off and then worked our way down. We finally got it to the point that just the trunk was sticking out of the ground and if it did fall down it wouldn't cause any damage. The next day Kyle got a kick out pushing over the rest of the tree.
