First snow of the season December 14th 2008

We woke up to a light blanket of snow.
Kyle stepped out into the snow after hearing all his brothers and
sisters making a commotion outside.

Visit with Granny B. Thanksgiving 2008

Josh was pretty bummed that he had to work on Thanksgiving He had to work a graveyard shift on Wednesday into Thursday and so we had our big dinner a little early so he could get some sleep before he had to go back in. We tried a turkey in a deep fryer this year and no we did not burn the house down. And yes we cooked it outside. Josh's mom stayed up late with me baking and it was really nice to hang out and make pies with her.

Granny B. went to Michaels and bought a whole bunch of crafts, Wooden dolls for the girls and pirates for the boys. We decorated magnets for the fridge too.

Lava Caves

Josh went up with Kyle and his scout troop to the lave caves near
Klamath Falls.There were several caves that they went and explored.
Thunderbolt is just one of them. As you get back further in the caves
it gets narrower and narrower. In some parts they had to crawl on their bellies.
They had helmets so they wouldn't get knocked in the head while they were
trying to squeeze through any tight spots

They were there exploring some of the lava caves for two nights and boy was it cold! It rained and hailed one of the nights. On the first night they got in late and was nearly dark and Josh decided to lay the seat down in the explorer, roll out their sleeping bags and just sleep there for the night. When the storm came through it rocked and howled and shook the car. When they got up in the morning all the others had their tents partially blown over and collapsed by the strong winds. I think the other boys were wishing they slept in the truck too.

The Things Jesus Asks of Me

There comes a day in a child's life
When they decide which path to take,
And since I'm choosing to follow Christ
There are sacred covenants I must make.

I've heard the stories of Jesus' life,
Of how He loved and healed and taught,
And now I promise to follow Him,
Trying to be pure in deed and thought.

I take upon myself His name,
Always to remember Him.
I'll keep the commandments that He has given me,
And stand as a witness for all to see,
These are the things that Jesus asks of me

Grandpa gave a really neat talk about the Holy Ghost.
He talked about how Heavenly Father gave this gift to us so we can know
what is right and wrong. He testifies of truth and gives us a warm feeling when we make good choices. In part of the talk Grandpa turned off all the lights in the room and it was completely dark. He talked to us about how Heavenly Father is the source of all light. He doesn't force Himself upon us. We make the choice to have Him in our lives. At times we will feel things are dark and we can not find our way. But He has not left us alone. We are able to turn the switch on (the light switch represents the Holy Ghost) and through this we can feel the light and have clarity in our lives. When we are feeling like things are dark it might be because we have stopped talking to Him. Or maybe we have done some things that we should not have done . And because of this we feel like everything is dark. Grandpa reminded us that this doesn't mean that all of His power and light are not still there. When we say our prayers and talk to our Heavenly Father, or when we make good choices, or when we ask for forgiveness and try to do better, or when we are at church and something touches our heart, it is like the light is being switched on, and we can feel the Holy Ghost testifying to us. Telling us we have made a good choice . or that what is being said is true, that Heavenly Father is listening to us and loves us.
